Dental Health Services
Dental care on PEI is usually not covered by the Health Act. For most dental health services, individuals will need to pay their dentist or utilize health insurance to cover the cost. There is a Provincial Dental Care Program that acts as a payer-of-last-resort for Island families; including seniors’ families, who earn a low income. The level of subsidy provided by Health PEI depends on net family income and family size. There are also Children’s Oral Health Programs that cover the cost of dental preventative services and dental treatments for children ages 3-17.
