The Rural Municipality of Sherbrooke is located in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, approximately 7 km away from Summerside and 60 km away from Charlottetown. The earliest permanent residents were a small group of Acadian settlers. It was initially called Platte, and it was later changed to Grangemount and then Sherbrooke. The Community of Sherbrooke is located on the isthmus separating Malpeque Bay from Northumberland Strait. It is surrounded on the west and south by the City of Summerside.
